This Privacy Policy describes how Cato Technologies LLC (“Cato Technologies,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use AirBeacon (also referred to as AirBeacon Live) (the “App”). It applies only to AirBeacon.
Contact: [email protected]. Website: https://catotechnologies.us. This page: https://catotechnologies.us/airbeacon/privacy-policy. End User License Agreement: https://catotechnologies.us/airbeacon/eula.
When you share, participating drone operators receive an anonymous live position (location, altitude, heading, speed, and aircraft type) tied to a random device identifier—not your name. Name and email are used only if you submit a Request access form for allowlist and operations review. We do not sell personal information. We do not use advertising identifiers, and the App does not include third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
If you use Request access in AirBeacon, we collect name, email address, aircraft type, notes you choose to include, and your device identifier. This information is used for allowlist review, operations contact, and access decisions. Name, email, and notes are not included in the live position feed sent to drone operators.
AirBeacon creates an anonymous persisted device identifier on first launch. It is stored on the device and sent with access requests and, when sharing is on, with live position updates so participating drone operators can correlate updates from the same device without receiving your name.
When you start sharing your live position, AirBeacon uses precise location, including while the app is in the background or the screen is locked if you grant “Always” / background location permission. Location is used only to publish your live position to participating drone operators while sharing is on. When you stop sharing, the live feed stops. The App does not publish a live position while sharing is off. You can deny or revoke location permission in system settings; live sharing will not work without it.
We may collect device model, operating system version, app version, IP address, crash or diagnostic logs, and similar technical data needed to operate, secure, and improve the App.
We use information to operate live position sharing and the Request access / allowlist process; communicate with you about access requests, support, and important notices; maintain security and troubleshoot; improve reliability and features; and comply with law. We process information based on performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating a safe aviation tool, your consent where required (such as location permissions), and legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
AirBeacon is not an ad-supported product. We do not use your location or device identifier for advertising. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking SDKs in AirBeacon unless a future update discloses otherwise in a revised policy and applicable store privacy labels.
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including live position data while you are sharing and for short operational windows; Request access and allowlist records while needed to administer access; and device identifiers for a reasonable period for security and support. You can delete the App to remove data stored only on the device. To request deletion of records associated with your device id or email, contact us.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Use the App in a manner appropriate to aviation safety and your own risk tolerance for sharing location.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Email [email protected] to exercise these rights.
You can stop sharing at any time in the App; change or revoke location permissions in system settings; contact us about a Request access submission; and uninstall the App.
California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
We are based in the United States. If you use the App from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may also be noted in the App or on our website. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
